Kyoshi E. Montez Dennis is the owner of the studio. He is the Chief Instructor for all evening and Saturday classes. Mr. Dennis
began his study of the art of self-protection in 1970. He has over 32 years experience in the martial arts. His major
accomplishments include 1982 when he was awarded the title of Renshi of the U.S. Shiron-Ryu Karate Association; the title
Renshi means (Highly respected man). He is the first in the U.S. to receive this title out side the Japanese Okinawa family. In
1983 he was the Mid Atlantic Kata, Weapons and Fighting Champion; 1984 Overall Grand Champion in AAU Men’s Advanced
Division. He has won over 500 trophies and awards during his 20 years as a competitor. Mr. Dennis was inducted into the
World Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 1997. He currently holds a 8th Degree Black Belt under Tadashi Yamashita. Master Shugaro

| presented Mr. Dennis with Rank in Okinawa Shorin-Ryu. Mr. Dennis has an Associates Degree in business
from Thomas Nelson Community College from which he also became the Physical Education instructor in Hampton, VA. Mr.
Dennis is the Head Coach for the USA National Karate Federation. Mr. Dennis is certified with NASKA (North American Sport
Karate Association) and USANKF (USA National Karte-Do Federation) as a judges official and referee. He has received his
state certification thru the World Karate Federation as an Olympic judges official and referee. In addition he has had the privilege
of serving as a Yamashita International member. Mr. Dennis has worked with
the World Karate Federation (WKF) and has participated as an active board
member with USA National Karate Federation of Virginia, Inc. (USANKF).
Mr. Dennis has had the privilege to work with World Black Belt, Inc., as
a U.S. Travel Martial's aid, to teach U.S. Travel Martial's a self
defense program called AID (America In Defense) co- founded by Chuck Norris.
This program was designed to give participating studios an opportunity to
empower pilots and flight attendants with self-protection and awareness
classes. This service, is available and provided free of charge to all
flight attendants, pilots and all airlines. It is one example of the way the
martial arts community gives back to the global community. We are very proud
to say that the Golden Sun Dojo Martial arts studio is the only recommended
participating studio in the state of Virginia by Mr. Dennis Brown of
Washington DC and Chuck Norris to instruct air travel employees the America
In Defense Program known as AID.
