Rules and Regulations

FIGHTING:  Two minutes or five points, whichever comes first.  No sweeps to back leg.  Point must be seen before competitor hits the floor following a sweep to the front leg.  A point will be given for a controlled, not fully extended technique to a legal target.  Contact to the head is not necessary to score a point.

 

PROTECTION:  Safety hands, feet and mouthpieces are mandatory in all fighting divisions.  Groin protectors are mandatory in all men’s fighting divisions.  For the safety of all competitors, headgear will be mandatory.  Height may determine the proper age group in which a person compete in all children divisions.

 

KATA:  Score will be based on a 0 - 10 point system.  Score will be added by omitting the high and low scores.  If there is a tie, add in the low score.  If there is still a tie after this, add in the high score.  If there is still a tie after these provisions, the contestants must perform again.  Higher ranked contestants must perform a different form.

We hope this year’s tournament will be as good as our previous tournaments. We have some of the best judging on the East Coast because YOU the competitors and families are the most important.

 

All children's Divisions will start after weapons.
